Ukrenergo reported that there are currently no restrictions on electricity in Ukraine, but urges to reduce consumption. This dispels rumors of possible outages that have appeared in some media and Telegram channels with provocative headlines. Ukrenergo noted that repair works at energy facilities continue after attacks from Russia, as well as increased electricity consumption due to cooling temperatures. The drop in temperature has led to active use of heaters, fireplaces, and air conditioners, and some generation capacities that operate non-autonomously have ceased operations. Bad weather also negatively affects electricity production from solar power plants. In this regard, Ukrenergo urges consumers to reduce the use of powerful electrical appliances and avoid turning on multiple devices simultaneously from 8:00 to 21:00 to reduce the load on the energy system. It is also worth mentioning that the moratorium on electricity disconnections for notorious debtors has been lifted in Ukraine. However, the service provider is not interested in disconnecting consumers but demands payment for already consumed electricity. This information was confirmed by the CEO of YASNO, Sergey Kovalenko, noting that the story about disconnections has been circulating for more than 15 months. At the beginning of 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine lifted the ban on stopping housing and communal services, the imposition of fines, and collecting debts for communal services from the population in case of non-payment.
«Recently, some media and Telegram channels have started publishing news with provocative headlines about possible disconnections. We emphasize that the disseminated information is unreliable. No restrictions are currently being applied», the company stated.
Call for rational electricity consumption
Ukrenergo dispels rumors and warns about the possibility of power outages in Ukraine. The company emphasizes that there are currently no restrictions but urges consumers to reduce the use of electrical appliances. The reason for the prudent limitation is the ongoing repair works at energy facilities and increased consumption due to cooling. The use of electric heaters and other devices that require electricity has increased the load on the energy system, especially from 8:00 to 21:00. Therefore, Ukrenergo calls on all consumers to use electricity rationally and not to turn on several powerful devices simultaneously.Read also
