The head of Russia Vladimir Putin announced a 'Easter truce' during a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov.

According to the Kremlin's statement, the truce will last from 18:00 on April 19 to 00:00 on April 21. Putin called on the Ukrainian side to follow this example.

Putin noted that the Russian side declares a truce for humanitarian reasons, but asks its troops to be prepared to repel any violations and provocations.
