The National Bank of Ukraine has recorded significant changes in the structure of cash circulation due to war and inflationary processes. According to the NBU press service, there is an active reduction of small denomination banknotes, which are being replaced by larger denominations and metal coins.

The National Bank reports an active reduction of small denomination banknotes, which are being replaced by higher denomination banknotes and metal coins.

The most significant changes have affected the two-hundred-hryvnia banknotes - their quantity in cash circulation has decreased by 24.5%. The National Bank explains this phenomenon by the fact that the population is switching to thousand-hryvnia banknotes, and also that the NBU itself is gradually replacing outdated banknotes with new ones.

A similar situation has arisen with regard to the smallest denominations: banknotes of 10 hryvnias have decreased by 15%, and those of 5 hryvnias - by 11%. The central bank confirms that these denominations are gradually being replaced by coins.

The impact of military events on financial behavior

Military events have also seriously influenced the financial behavior of Ukrainians. Savings are increasingly being kept in large denominations, leading to an increased demand for thousand-hryvnia banknotes. However, the most popular in cash circulation remain five-hundred-hryvnia banknotes, which account for more than a quarter of the economy (27.3%).

Regarding coins, the most popular are ten-kopyiyky coins, which make up almost a third of the total volume of metal money. The least demanded are fifty-hryvnia banknotes and ten-hryvnia coins.

Under the influence of military events and inflationary processes, the monetary circulation of Ukraine is undergoing significant changes: the use of small banknotes is decreasing in favor of larger banknotes and coins. The population is switching to thousand-hryvnia banknotes, while the demand for two-hundred-hryvnia notes is diminishing even more.

Changes in the structure of cash circulation in Ukraine have occurred due to the influence of military events and inflation. The population is increasingly using large banknotes and coins of higher denominations, replacing small banknotes. This indicates an adaptation of monetary circulation to the difficult economic situation in the country.
