In March 2025, the National Bank of Ukraine applied measures against six banks and three non-banking financial institutions due to identified violations of legislation in the field of financial monitoring and currency regulation. This was reported by the press service of the regulator.The largest fine was imposed on JSC 'MIB' in the amount of 20.5 million UAH for insufficient fulfillment of customer verification obligations and for not providing a risk-oriented approach. JSC 'Ukrainian Capital Bank' also received a fine of 20 million UAH for similar violations. Significant sanctions were also applied to AB 'Pivdenny', which will have to pay a fine of 7.5 million UAH for shortcomings in financial monitoring.JSC 'Pravex Bank' received a fine of 5 million UAH and a written warning for incorrect client verification and issues with internal documents related to anti-money laundering. JSC 'Sens Bank' was fined 4.1 million UAH for violations in the area of proper client verification.The sixth bank subject to sanctions was JSC AKB 'Lviv', which will have to pay a fine of 2.051 million UAH and receive a written warning.
'Thorough client verification and effective implementation of a risk-oriented approach are key elements in combating money laundering and financing of terrorism,' the NBU stated.
Among non-banking institutions, the strictest sanctions were applied to PT 'Sunlight Assets and Company', which was fined 51 thousand UAH for systematic failure to submit reports on anti-money laundering and terrorism financing within the Time limits established by law. Two more non-banking institutions - PT 'Lombard 'Onyx Plus' Chernyk and Co.' and LLC 'FC 'Fintech Mercury' - received written warnings for similar violations.Also, let us remind you: the National Bank canceled limits on card transfers, but there is a nuance with banks.
