One of the plants of the sunflower oil producer Kernel stopped in January 2025 due to a raw material shortage in the Ukrainian market.
'Due to limited sunflower seed supply in the market, three Kernel plants processed other oilseeds, including 93 thousand tons of soybeans and 14 thousand tons of rapeseed. But in January 2025, one of the plants had to suspend operations due to a raw material shortage,' the company's report for the second quarter of the fiscal year noted, according to Economic Truth.
Kernel processed 973 thousand tons of oilseeds in this quarter of the 2025 fiscal year, which is 20% more than in the corresponding period last year.
The export of oil increased by 52% compared to the previous quarter and by 11% compared to the previous year, reaching 408 thousand tons. This growth is due to an increase in processing volumes. Of this volume, 26 thousand tons is bottled oil.
