Resident of Kharkiv Region Justified the Aggression of the Russian Federation — Court Decision.


A resident of the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv region justified Russian aggression. He was sentenced to imprisonment.
This is stated in the verdict issued by the Kharkiv Court of Appeal on July 3.
Case Details
According to court materials, the individual is a native of the Luhansk region but currently lives in the village of Husynka in Kharkiv region. In the summer and autumn of 2023, he published posts on Telegram justifying Russian aggression against Ukraine.
In social networks, the accused:
- claimed that Russians did not try to take Kupiansk, and that Russian military personnel are heroes;
- stated that the Russian Federation attempted to avoid the so-called special operation, but due to violations of the Minsk agreements by Ukrainians, there was no other way out;
- wrote that the Azov men committed more crimes in Donbas over eight years than the Russians did in 2022 in Bucha.
Court Ruling
The first instance court found the man guilty but released him from five years of imprisonment, replacing the punishment with two years of probation. The accused did not acknowledge his guilt: he stated that his comments were only a statement of facts.
The prosecutor concluded that the individual deserves actual imprisonment, so he appealed to the appellate court. His complaint was satisfied. For his actions, the convicted person will spend five years in prison.
We remind you that in Zaporizhzhia, a driver violated traffic rules and injured a police officer. He was sentenced to one year of probation.
Also, we reported that in Odesa, a military man quarreled with an unfamiliar woman and kicked her on the shin. For this, he has to pay a fine.
A resident of the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv region who justified Russian aggression against Ukraine has been sentenced to five years in prison. The court found him guilty of publications on social media where he justified the actions of the Russian military and criticized Ukrainian forces.
