The Ministry of Defense has fined suppliers of food products more than 6 million UAH due to the detection of counterfeit products, including dairy products that did not meet state standards. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense's press service.

According to the Director of the Procurement Policy Department, Hlib Kanyevskyi, the Ministry of Defense is forming a new culture of accountability among suppliers. Quality control and transparency in supply are not only issues of responsible use of state funds but also of safety and trust from the military.

The Ministry of Defense noted that contracts clearly distinguish between 'low-quality' and 'counterfeit' goods, which increases suppliers' accountability in cases of deliberate violations of supply conditions and the use of unauthorized additives for economic gain.

The first products subjected to in-depth checks were oil and cheese, which are the most vulnerable categories to counterfeiting. Samples were taken directly from military units to avoid the possibility of manipulation.

Out of 35 laboratory tests, 19 samples were found to be counterfeit, which is a violation of DSTU. Other results will be known after the completion of the initial laboratory studies. Following negative results, the Ministry of Defense fines suppliers, prohibits further shipments of the batch, informs other contractors, and does not allow the unloading of products from this brand.

The Ministry of Defense also reports that it plans to check other categories of food products that may be counterfeit, as well as to conduct repeat checks of those products that initially received negative test results.

The State Logistics Operator (DОT) announced the strengthening of control over the production of property for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
