Deputy from Vinnytsia demanded a bribe from the wife of a fallen soldier: details from the Security Service.

The Security Service and the National Police uncovered a criminal scheme for extorting money from the families of Ukrainian defenders in Vinnytsia region.
According to the SBU and the Office of the Prosecutor General, a deputy of the village council of Vinnytsia region was arrested, along with her accomplices - a local lawyer and another individual. They demanded money from the family of the fallen soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, promising to expedite the demobilization procedure for her son, a serviceman, in exchange for a bribe. The suspects attempted to obtain part of the money for themselves. Law enforcement detained them during the transfer of money and documented the crime.
Having received a notice of suspicion, the three detainees are in custody and face up to 8 years in prison with property confiscation. The Security Service also reported the successful neutralization of a criminal organization in the west of the country, which also demanded money from residents and terrorized them.
The perpetrators were arrested in Chernivtsi during a special operation, during which two leaders of the criminal group and a citizen of the Russian Federation, who was illegally residing in Ukraine, were detained.
According to the investigation, this organization extorted money from various categories of victims, including mobilized and injured military personnel, cancer patients and their families. The suspects extorted money under false pretenses.
Thus, law enforcement agencies continue the fight against corruption and ensure law and order in the country, uncovering schemes for extorting money from Ukrainian defenders and the population as a whole.
