Banking restrictions had a counterproductive effect: what is happening with cards.

The National Bank limited card transfers
In October 2024, the National Bank of Ukraine set a monthly limit on card transfers at 150 thousand hryvnias. However, this decision led to an unexpected effect, as revealed in an exclusive interview with the organizer of the 'drop' scheme, as reported by EP.
'At first, we did not understand what it was, but we ended up selling more cards,' says the scheme manager.
This fact indicates that the restrictions imposed by the regulator not only did not stop shadow operations, but also caused a transformation of their execution mechanisms.
At the same Time, the organizer of the 'drop' community notes new challenges for scheme participants. Wholesalers, especially those working with cryptocurrency operations, faced more frequent card blockages.
In December 2024, banks expanded the restrictions and signed a memorandum, reducing limits for high-risk clients to 50 thousand hryvnias per month. The organizer of the 'drop' scheme does not provide a clear forecast regarding the consequences of this decision.
'But based on previous experience with restrictions, we will not lose from this. In my opinion, 'drops' will always exist,' he emphasizes, expressing confidence in the viability of shadow financial mechanisms.
It has also become known that in January, bank cardholders will face a 'surprise.'
