Visa revealed how it convinced monobank to switch to its system.

According to Visa's regional manager, the success of Monobank in the Ukrainian market lies in its employees' ability to convince the bank to switch its clients to the Visa payment system.
Tatyana Chorna, a Visa representative, noted that Monobank's success does not require any special conditions or offers; they simply made their choice convenient for themselves. Visa did not provide them with anything exclusive, no advantages compared to other banks.
'There is no secret. All decisions are available to absolutely all banks. Any company – whether a bank or a payment system – is made up of the people who work there. Some are more persistent and better at explaining, helping to implement solutions on Time. The bank decided that it was comfortable working this way,' Chorna noted.
The Visa representative emphasized that this process did not require additional costs from the company. In response to journalists' questions about possible similar negotiations with other banks, she avoided a direct answer.
According to the National Bank's data at the end of 2024, Visa holds a 48% market share, nearly equal to its main competitor Mastercard, which has 51.6%. It is worth noting that back in 2020, Visa held one-third of the market.
Earlier, Monobank and Ukrposhta launched free top-ups for cards at branches.
