Sick Leave Payments Reformed - What Changes Occurred in July.

The Ukrainian government decree No. 837 from July 18, 2025, introduced changes in the calculation of average wages for sick leave and maternity payments for employees. Now, in the determination of insurance benefits, discrimination against voluntarily insured individuals has been eliminated.

The issue with the calculation periods for determining the amount of payments has been addressed by the amendments introduced by the decree. They are intended to ensure a fairer and equal approach to sick leave and maternity payments for employees. The updated calculation rules now include gig specialists and individuals who were unable to work for valid reasons.

Changes for Employees and Gig Specialists of 'Diia City' Residents and Voluntarily Insured Persons

In connection with the decree, employees and gig specialists of 'Diia City' residents are facing new maximum limits on sick leave and maternity payments. At the same Time, a new calculation mechanism has been introduced to facilitate a fairer determination of these amounts.

As for voluntarily insured persons, new rules for calculating sick leave and maternity payments have also been established, promoting a more transparent and fair procedure. The innovations cover all employees who have decided to voluntarily insure their health.
