Electricity in Ukraine can be disconnected preventively to protect the country's energy system.
Serhiy Nahorniak, a member of the energy committee, said this.
According to him, Ukrenergo cooperates with Oblenergo and generating companies to reduce the load on the energy system. This applies to both electricity consumption and the operation of power plants of various types.
According to Nahorniak, these measures can be compared to reducing speed before a sharp turn in the road. Energy workers need to reduce the load on the system to reduce possible negative consequences.
According to Nahorniak, such preventive measures may be related to the presence of data on possible attacks on critical infrastructure. Power restoration will be carried out gradually over a period of 3-4 hours.
"Light will gradually come on in the houses of Kyiv residents and residents of other cities. This is a technological process that takes some Time," added Nahorniak.
Shutdown schedules are introduced in various regions of Ukraine and in Kyiv.
