How to protect household appliances during power outages
In Ukraine, schedules for power outages are once again being implemented, which may lead to appliance malfunctions due to voltage surges. The press service of the State Emergency Service provides several recommendations for protecting boilers, refrigerators, televisions, and other equipment. The main requirements are as follows:
- Disconnect all electrical appliances from the network to prevent damage from voltage surges. It is useful to use voltage stabilizers.
- Wait about half an hour after the electricity supply is restored before turning on appliances, as voltage fluctuations may occur. Additionally, it is recommended to turn on devices sequentially to avoid a sharp increase in electricity consumption.
- Buy high-quality and certified electrical equipment only from official stores. Follow the instructions to ensure the safe operation of the device and extend its service life.
During power outages, it is necessary to monitor the use of generators and heating devices. It is also important to avoid using gas stoves for heating.
Let us note that the Council has already answered the question regarding the cancellation of power outage schedules.
