Evasion of Mobilization: Jobs That Cannot Be Obtained with Such a Conviction.

Ukraine is facing a significant increase in the number of people receiving actual prison terms for evading mobilization. This information was reported by lawyer Roman Simutyn.
According to Simutyn, courts are increasingly imposing sentences of up to 3 years for violations of mobilization laws. Previously, such sentences were handed down in only 10-15% of cases, but now it is 50-60%.
"As the analysis of the situation shows, if earlier courts gave real prison terms in 10%-15% of cases, now it is 50%-60%", - noted Simutyn.
Therefore, the number of people serving actual prison terms has increased significantly.
Former head of the State Penitentiary Service Serhiy Starenky explains that convicts are sent to prisons with a regular regime without enhanced surveillance.
"Regarding the increase in the number of sentences with real prison terms, there was a position of the Supreme Court. It states that a conditional sentence does not meet the purpose of punishment", - noted Starenky.
Starenky also explained that the increase in the number of sentences with real terms became possible because people saw that no punishment was imposed for evading military service.
Lawyers note that a conviction can negatively impact the future life of convicts. They will have limited access to civil service and jobs in law enforcement agencies, where thorough checks are conducted. However, in the private sector, the situation may be less strict.
"To apply for a civil service job, you need a certificate of no criminal record. When applying to the SBI or NABU, a full check is conducted to identify any prior convictions", - said Andrii Mezheritsky.
It is clear that such a situation has significant consequences for those convicted of evading mobilization.
