One of the largest green hydrogen industrial clusters in Europe to be built in Sweden.

Companies Lhyfe, OX2, and Velarion are joining forces to create a large European industrial cluster based on eco-friendly hydrogen. The cluster will be located in the Swedish municipality of Önge and will use wind energy to produce green hydrogen, which will then be used for the production of carbon-neutral fertilizers.
OX is developing a wind farm with a planned production capacity of 1.4 TWh/year. This electricity will provide for the construction of a 300 MW electrolyzer, which Lhyfe will use to produce up to 100 tons of green hydrogen per day.
Velarion will build a plant to produce carbon-neutral fertilizers. They plan to use green hydrogen to produce green ammonia, significantly reducing carbon emissions during fertilizer production.
«We are excited about the potential of this project, which will use electricity from the wind farm to create an industrial cluster with eco-friendly energy. This will promote local industry development and increase investments in Önge», said Anders Nilsson, head of the onshore wind industry at OX2.
The project is already moving into the conceptual phase, and its implementation will depend on obtaining permits and investment decisions.
Lhyfe is a producer and supplier of eco-friendly hydrogen, and OX2 is engaged in the development and management of renewable energy projects. In 2021, Lhyfe opened the world’s first green hydrogen production facility connected to a wind farm.
It is important to note that in 2022, solar energy production exceeded coal power production in the EU.
