In Germany, a man was fined 4,500 euros for hugging Scholz.

In Frankfurt, a trial took place again, during which a 50-year-old man was sentenced to a fine of 4,500 euros and banned from driving for two and a half years following an incident with Chancellor Olaf Scholz. This was reported by "Glavkom" referring to Die Welt.
The situation occurred in May 2023. The defendant, in his car, unlawfully joined the convoy of the chancellor who was heading to Frankfurt Airport. He then went to the plane with intermediaries, where he suddenly hugged Scholz.
The man was detained by the federal police, and he did not resist. After a protocol was drawn up, he was released and the case was transferred to court.
During the court hearing, the man, who turned out to be under the influence of drugs, repented and promised to improve. He stated that he found himself in the situation by accident and apologized.
As the publication notes, the hug of the defendant with Scholz played only a secondary role in the sentencing. Despite the fact that it sparked discussions about the chancellor's safety.
The main factor was the fact that he was driving a car while intoxicated. The court found that the defendant had been stopped several times for drug intoxication while driving, both before and after the incident at the airport.
The district court in Frankfurt sentenced the man to a fine and banned him from driving for two and a half years for creating a danger to road traffic combined with public order violations.
As a reminder, voting for the new chancellor of Germany is scheduled for May 6. The Bundestag must meet an important condition.
The parliament will vote on the candidacy of the leader of the Christian Democratic Union party, Friedrich Merz. This will happen two and a half months after the Bundestag elections.
By that Time, the political forces of the Christian Democratic Union, the Christian Social Union (CSU), and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) must approve a coalition agreement.
The leadership of the CSU has already done this, and the CDU will make a decision on April 28 at the party congress. The representatives of the SPD will vote on the 144-page document by April 29.
Earlier, the bloc of German conservative parties, the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU), signed an agreement with the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) on April 9 to form a government coalition.
