Kyiv City Administration purchased generators at inflated prices – prosecutor's office.

The prosecutors of the Podil District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv announced the suspicion against the director of one of the departments of the Kyiv City Administration for official negligence, as a result of which more than 4.8 million hryvnias were overpaid from the city budget during the purchase of diesel generators in 2023.

According to preliminary data, the Kyiv City Administration department conducted the purchase of generators from January to April 2023, without considering market prices. Investigative authorities found that the director's subordinates violated the procedure and sent price requests only to three companies, disregarding more favorable offers from other suppliers.

Sources stated that individual generators were purchased at prices higher than their cost on the open market. For example, one unit was bought for 390 thousand hryvnias, while the actual price was 320 thousand. Other generators were acquired for 90 thousand hryvnias, although they could be obtained for 76 thousand. As a result of these actions, the city budget suffered losses of more than 4.8 million hryvnias.

The director is suspected of official negligence, which may lead to serious consequences. The prosecutor's office has already filed a petition to suspend the accused from office.

Other cases of corruption among officials in Kyiv

Recently, cases of corruption among officials were also discovered in the capital. Employees of 'Kyivzelenbud' were accused of soliciting bribes for completed work, and the head of the State Enterprise 'Ukrainian State Center for Radio Frequencies' paid for printers twice as much as necessary.

Overall, these cases indicate the spread of corruption among officials in Kyiv and the necessity of taking appropriate measures to prevent similar crimes.
