Turkey is ready to replace Ukrainian gas transit to the EU.

Turkey is actively working on restoring energy negotiations with the EU in order to become the main supplier of natural gas. Previously, negotiations were suspended due to the conflict with Cyprus. According to Turkey's ambassador to the EU, the analysis of energy cooperation will be a key topic of the planned rapprochement between the EU and Turkey, which will also cover trade negotiations and cooperation on political issues in Europe and the Middle East.
Hungary and Slovakia, EU member states, are seeking alternatives to Russian gas following the expiration of the transit agreement through Ukraine. Turkey also has the potential to supply gas from the Southern Gas Corridor, which could be expanded with Mediterranean gas.
Last year, discussions on energy cooperation between the EU and Turkey were interrupted due to the conflict with Cyprus over gas extraction rights in the Mediterranean. However, Turkey does not support the restoration of dialogue with Cyprus, while most EU member countries favor expanding energy resources.
