New order in the Middle East
US President Donald Trump visited Middle Eastern countries - Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. This trip established a new order in the region, where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was pushed into political isolation.
Particular attention was drawn to Trump's handshake with the Islamist leader of Syria, which provoked sharp accusations from Israel. The US President expressed support for the Islamists, illustrating his new approach to the region.
The result of the visit was the strengthening of the new order in the Middle East led by Sunni states. This led to Iran being sidelined and Israel being restored to a secondary position.
'The Trump administration is disappointed with Netanyahu as he hinders their plans for the Middle East,' a former assistant secretary of state said.
Netanyahu's government is receiving criticism in Israel for leading the country into political imbalance as other alliances are regrouping.
