We remind that Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk expressed dissatisfaction with the behavior of WTA ranking leader Aryna Sabalenka during the quarterfinal match of the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid.
In the second set on the tiebreak, Sabalenka made a poor first serve and then requested to close the roof, claiming that the rain was bothering her. However, the referee denied her request. Sabalenka decided not to serve again, and the referee announced a match stoppage.
Ultimately, the match ended with Sabalenka winning in two sets - 7:6 (7:4), 7:6 (9:7).
"She will never win sportsmanship awards, that’s for sure," Kostyuk said, addressing her team.
Recall that Sabalenka has repeatedly met with Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko and even signed a letter in his support.
Additionally, Sabalenka has publicly supported Lukashenko's supporter and pro-war activist against Ukraine, Anastasia Mironchik-Ivanova, on social media.
Mironchik-Ivanova is a supporter of Russia's aggression against Ukraine and a member of the self-proclaimed parliament of Alexander Lukashenko, which is not recognized by democratic countries worldwide. She has also made statements in support of the Belarusian dictator multiple times.
Sabalenka has liked over 10 posts by Mironchik-Ivanova on the social network Instagram.
Among the posts liked by the 'neutral' tennis player is a post greeting the propaganda channel "Belarus 5".
Ukrainian tennis players continue to achieve success in international tournaments and are unafraid to express their views on political events.
