Russia uses more than 200 satellites in the war with Ukraine

According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Russia actively uses satellite systems in the war with Ukraine, having over 200 military satellites in orbit. In 2015, the Russian Federation created the Aerospace Forces by merging the Air Force and the Aerospace Defense Forces.

'They manage military and dual-use satellite systems, launch spacecraft into orbit, monitor space, detect and neutralize threats from space and in space,' the military stated.

According to the estimates of the Ministry of Defense, the enemy has about 200 satellites and 150,000 servicemen working with this system. In contrast, Ukraine has only one spacecraft, which was purchased through donations from citizens and helps Ukrainian soldiers counter threats.

The Ministry of Defense acknowledges that this is insufficient. They emphasize the need for Ukraine to become a full-fledged participant in the space domain, rather than just a user of space services. This goal is one of the key tasks of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
