Everyone will have to change their licenses: new restrictions await drivers in Ukraine.

Ukraine is preparing to introduce new restrictions for drivers concerning the validity period of driver's licenses. Bill No. 8082, which proposes reducing this period, is being prepared for consideration in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Currently, driver's licenses are issued for 30 years. However, a group of deputies proposes to change this practice and reduce the validity period of new licenses to 10 years. It is also proposed that existing licenses be invalid after 2033.
The exchange of licenses issued for the first Time is possible after two years if the driver has not violated traffic rules more than twice. If there have been three or more violations, the driver must pass both a theoretical and practical exam.
Legislators also propose stricter rules for those who have not exchanged expired licenses. If the driver has not updated their licenses on time, they will have to retake the theoretical and practical exams at the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The purpose of these changes is to improve drivers' competence and enhance road safety. Additionally, the initiative aims to make the control over the physical and psychological condition of drivers more stringent.
