Portrait of a Ukrainian Refugee Family Wins Prestigious Competition in Britain.

A Ukrainian family that relocated to Britain due to Russian aggression has won the 'Portrait of Britain' contest. Photographer Kieran Spencer captured a photo of the family in traditional Ukrainian vyshyvankas at the local Ukrainian Community Center in Great Britain.
Kieran Spencer had previously worked at this center and noticed the similarity between the people he photographed in 2001 and the new group of displaced individuals seeking community and refuge in 2024. He remarked that the circumstances were similar and felt that history was repeating itself.
'We are very grateful when we receive messages from people in other cities who have seen our photo,' said Lyudmila Zhihunova, a member of the winning family.
The photograph won the 'Portrait of Britain' competition organized by the British Journal of Photography. The photo has now been seen by many people across the country, which was an unexpected but pleasant surprise for the Zhihunov family.
It should be noted that Britain has lifted visa restrictions for children from Ukraine, and it has also been announced who among Ukrainians is provided with free housing in Poland.
