NYT on US intelligence: Russia seeks to influence elections by supporting Trump's position on Ukraine.

The United States plans to accuse Russia of using state-owned media to influence the 2024 elections, The New York Times reported.
According to the publication, on Wednesday the US will release accusatory acts accusing Russia of attempting to influence the November elections by using state-owned media to spread provocative messages and disinformation.
American intelligence agencies believe that the Kremlin more supported former President Donald Trump than Vice President Kamala Harris, as he was more skeptical of US support for Ukraine.
The Department of Justice and the FBI are investigating the activities of several Americans accused of consciously spreading Kremlin's false narratives. However, officials emphasize that they do not intend to restrict freedom of speech.
The US claims that Russian intelligence services are using the state-owned channel RT to spread disinformation through bots and other means. American officials are closely studying how the Kremlin and its intelligence services use RT to influence elections.
It is expected that Attorney General Merrick Garland will announce accusatory acts and provide a detailed account of the government's latest efforts to stop Russian interference during the Justice Department's Task Force on Election Threats meeting.
The fight against election interference this year, according to officials, has become more challenging. Some Americans, especially Trump supporters, see accusations of spreading Russian disinformation as attempts to undermine their views and political positions.
The war in Ukraine has made the US elections one of the most important for Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is expected that Harris will continue active support for Ukraine by the Biden administration, while Trump promised to quickly end the war by forcing the parties to negotiate.
