Positive results of the new team of the State Tax Service

The Head of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danilo Hetmanets expressed his satisfaction with the results of the new team of the State Tax Service. According to him, the state budget was overfulfilled in the first quarter of 2024. At the same Time, he is extremely concerned about negative trends in the markets of alcohol, tobacco, and electronics, which are particularly vulnerable to 'shadowing'. Hetmanets stated this in his interview with the publication 'Glavkom'.

"You are mistaken, there is nothing personal for me in any personnel issues in the State Tax Service, assessments and results of its work. The new leadership understands the situation, is trying to do something, and I cannot say anything bad about it yet. I do not currently see any blatant failures or sensational achievements. And I currently have no grounds to make assessments because I am used to speaking in numbers and concrete facts. If they exist, I will not hide this. And I say this not because I do not want to criticize the Tax Service," said Danilo Hetmanets.

Hetmanets explained that as the head of the committee, he has the right to assess eight bodies that fall under his jurisdiction. According to him, some of these bodies are absolutely incapable. Regarding the new team of the Tax Service, Hetmanets expressed caution and noted that it is still too early to make final conclusions about their work.

"On the one hand, we have excellent noticeable overfulfillment of the state budget: in the first quarter of this year, it is by 36 billion UAH, of which 11.5 billion UAH is VAT. The Tax Service is nearly within my forecast for overfulfilling the plan by $4 billion for the year. It is very good that the groundwork that the State Tax Service had in 2022-2024 did not stop, but was only developed, and this is undoubtedly also the result of the new team," he added.

Hetmanets also expressed his concern over 'alarming markers' in the alcohol, tobacco, and electronics markets. According to him, these industries are particularly prone to 'shadowing'.

Hetmanets also announced that changes will be made to the rules for joining the 'White Business Club', as some issues are currently unregulated and this creates problems for the club itself.
