The number of Ukrainian refugees in Norway who do not want to return home has been named.

According to a survey conducted by the Directorate of Integration and Diversity (IMDi), 47% of Ukrainian refugees in Norway stated that they do not wish to return to Ukraine even after the war ends. Only 10% want to go back home. Researcher Vilde Gerhnes notes that among Ukrainians there are two trends: those who have been in Norway for a long Time are more likely to want to stay there, while those who arrived recently wish to settle in the Scandinavian country. According to the survey, there has been an increase in the number of boys aged 16-17 among the Ukrainian refugees in Norway. This may be related to the fact that after the age of 18, it will be much more difficult for them to leave Ukraine, and they may have to fight. In a previous survey published in January 2023, a third of Ukrainian refugees expressed a desire to remain in Norway, while more than half were uncertain in their decisions.

Recently, Norway stopped the automatic granting of asylum to Ukrainian refugees from the western part of Ukraine. Currently, about 65 thousand Ukrainian refugees are in Norway, the majority of whom are unsure whether they want to go back home. 54% of Ukrainians are uncertain if they want to stay or return, while 34% stated that they wish to remain in Norway.
