Fire breaks out at ski resort in Turkey: dozens dead (updated).


In Turkey, at the Kartalkaya ski resort, a fire has occurred resulting in at least 10 fatalities and several injuries.

According to a journalist from Haber Global channel, the fire at the Kartalkaya ski resort is still ongoing. Currently, the equipment from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority along with ambulances have surrounded the hotel, but the fire cannot be extinguished. The journalist also noted that there are still people inside the hotel with whom contact cannot be established.
There is a risk of collapse of the Grand Kartal hotel located at the Kartalkaya ski resort. Security services are warning about this. Representatives of the Turkish Cabinet have already arrived at the scene, but local authorities have not yet commented on the situation.
According to preliminary data, the fire started on the roof of the seven-story hotel at around 03:00 local Time. The fire quickly spread throughout the building. Ten people died, two of whom fell from height, and 32 people were injured.
The evacuated individuals have been temporarily accommodated in other hotels in the region, and the fire on the lower floors has been extinguished thanks to the actions of the fire brigades.
A fire also occurred in the Rivne region - a wooden church in the village of Vysotsk, which was nearly 150 years old, burned down.
