Constitutional Court: Impeachment of the Prime Minister Rejected
On Monday, the Constitutional Court of South Korea decided to reject the impeachment of Prime Minister Han Duck-soo. According to Yonhap, the court reinstated Han Duck-soo as acting president due to the worsening situation following the temporary declaration of a state of emergency by President Yoon Suk-yeol.
During the voting of eight judges, the impeachment of Han was rejected by a majority of 5 to 1 votes. Two judges voted for the complete dismissal of the case.
This decision was made after three months since the National Assembly announced the impeachment of the Prime Minister and the then acting president due to his possible involvement in the declaration of the state of emergency on December 3, as well as for other reasons.
