Opening ceremony of 'Eurovision-2025' in Switzerland

In Switzerland, in the city of Basel, the opening ceremony of the song contest 'Eurovision-2025' took place. 37 participants took part in this event, including the Ukrainian band Ziferblat. According to 'Glavkom', this was reported by 'Suspilne' and SRF.

The length of the turquoise carpet, along which the participants walked from the town hall to the exhibition center, was a record 1.3 kilometers, which is also recorded in the history of the contest. The entire ceremony cost nearly one million euros.

Before the appearance, participants traveled around the city in vintage trams and buses. Pro-Palestinian protesters attempted to block the tram in which Israeli singer Yuval Rafael was sitting.

The band Ziferblat appeared at the opening in looks from Ukrainian brands that resembled the image of a prayer bird - the main symbol of their contest song. After walking the carpet, the musicians took a group photo with Ukrainian fans who attended the ceremony.

History of 'Eurovision' in Switzerland

This year, the 69th song contest 'Eurovision' will take place. Switzerland is hosting this event for the third Time. The country first hosted and won the contest in Lugano back in 1956. After winning in 1988, Switzerland held 'Eurovision-1989' in Lausanne, and this time the contest is being held in the city of Basel for the first time.

Ukraine will be represented at 'Eurovision' by the band Ziferblat. According to the draw results, Ukraine will perform in the first part of the first semi-final on May 13, and the grand final will take place on May 17.
