Is there a connection between the Onufriy Church and the Russian Orthodox Church? The Judiciary has considered a number of lawsuits from the UOC MP

The UOC MP has once again suffered a defeat in court, attempting to hinder the decision-making by Ukrainian authorities.

On June 25, the court ruled on two applications from the clergy regarding the provision of a lawsuit before filing a claim. Their demands were virtually identical: to suspend the action of the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution of May 9, 2025, No. 543... as well as to prohibit the government from making changes to this document.

In June of this year, the UOC MP filed four applications to the Kyiv District Administrative Court, but the court rejected their requests. The UOC MP also attempted to stop the research on the affiliation of religious organizations and to prevent the publication of the results of this research, but their demands were not met by the court.

It is worth noting that in 2023, a religious studies examination confirmed that the UOC is still subordinate to the Russian Orthodox Church and is not an independent Church, which led to a series of court disputes in which the UOC MP lost again.

The UOC MP is trying to resolve the conflict through the courts, but as long as the issues of affiliation and independence from the Russian Orthodox Church are concerned, this proves to be a futile attempt.

The UOC MP continues to engage in legal disputes with Ukrainian authorities in an attempt to preserve its independence and affiliation from the Russian Orthodox Church, but so far these attempts have not yielded the desired result.
