The meeting took place on the steps of the residence, after which both couples proceeded to a traditional tea gathering. This is an important moment in the transfer of presidential power. In 2021, Trump refused to attend Biden's inauguration due to allegations of election fraud, which led to the riots at the Capitol on January 6.
On that same day, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff met with their successors - elected Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife Usha Vance. Afterward, the Biden couple welcomed Harris and Emhoff at the White House before the arrival of the Trumps.
The inauguration ceremony will begin at 11:30 AM, and the swearing-in will take place at 12:00 PM. The event will be held inside the Capitol, despite the cold weather in Washington.
