The government of Ukraine is launching a new state support program for preparing children for school called 'Schoolchild Package'. According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, 5,000 hryvnias will be paid for each first grader.

The Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal stated: 'Today, at the initiative of the president, we are making a decision to launch a new payment - 'Schoolchild Package'.

Parents will find the process of receiving these funds greatly simplified. Applications for participation in the program will be submitted through the 'Diya' app, and the money can only be used cashless with the use of a bank card. These funds are intended for the purchase of stationery, educational materials, children's clothing, and footwear.

Access to the program for all families

The government supports access to the program for any Ukrainian family without exception. Specific dates for submitting applications will be announced by the Ministry of Social Policy. It is important to note that participation in the 'Schoolchild Package' program will not affect the provision of other social assistance.

This new initiative is a continuation of state support for families that began with the 'Baby Package' program. Initially introduced in 2018 in the form of care items for newborns, in July 2020 the program transformed into cash payments, and since 2022, money can be used for any family needs.
